The Malcolm Bryant Corporation unveiled its third public art investment on Friday.

The new sculpture, titled “Deep Waters” was revealed during a ceremony at the Hampton Inn and Suites Downtown Owensboro/Waterfront. The 23-foot sculpture was designed by artist, Greg Harris, and assembled by Eddie Austin. It is constructed of solid polished stainless steel and weighs approximately 6,000 pounds. The sculpture is a large double-bass
with LED lighting along the strings with various color changes.

This $50,000 investment in public art is a holiday gift to the community, according to the corporation. “Deep Waters” joins Malcolm Bryant Corporation’s sculpture at The Springs Health Centre and the Hampton Inn & Suites Waterfront Pig.

“I’m proud, as I always am, to live in a community with an intense love and appreciation for public art” said Madison Silvert, president of the Malcolm Bryant Corporation. “I hope that our hotel guests, team members, and the public will enjoy this great sculpture for years to come.”

The 23-foot sculpture joins a repertoire of public art downtown, many of which are rotating exhibits of the RiverArtes program. Mary Bryan Hood, the director of the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art, said this program is often supplemented by permanent pieces from private donors.

“The Owensboro Museum of Fine Art is pleased the Malcolm Bryant Corporation is helping to perpetuate that tradition by investing in public art,” she said.
