The word on the street: They’re putting the floor protection in for the bean/blob now. It’s at a warehouse nearby and the goal is to finish by Nov. 15 before a construction moratorium sets in for the holidays.
MUSEUM TO PROVIDE A PUBLIC SUKKAH
The Museum of Jewish Heritage will provide a sukkah for the public to use during the upcoming holiday on the second-floor patio outside its restaurant, LOX at Cafe Bergson, starting today, Oct. 10, through the 20th on days that the museum is open. The sukkah will be decorated with greenery provided by the Battery Park City Parks Conservancy and from the museum’s roof garden.
VOLUNTEER WITH THE DOWNTOWN ALLIANCE
The Downtown Alliance has developed a new program to help volunteers get involved in their neighborhood activities. Sign up and you will receive dedicated emails throughout the year for upcoming volunteer opportunities including those for recycling events, planting days, delivering food to seniors and training to be a local compost advocate. Anyone who signs up can pick up a free begonia at Bowling Green on Oct. 15.
OPEN HOUSE NY TICKETS ON SALE
Tickets for Open House New York are available as of Oct. 8. This year, 300+ institutions will participate in tours, talks and special events from Oct. 18 to 20 including lots of Lower Manhattan spots such as City Hall, Federal Hall, NYC Hall of Records, Skyscraper Museum, Black Gotham Experience, Castle Williams and LMCC Art Center on Governors Island among others.
